What we are learning

Read and spell the first set of tricky words on sight.

You will need: Pencil, Highlighter (optional), Coloured pencils

Warm-up

Flash six tricky word cards for one second each: the, said, was, you, they, all. Children whisper each word back.

Read the word, cover it with your hand, then write it twice from memory.

2Spot the tricky word

Circle every tricky word you can see in each sentence.

4Count the letters and sounds

Write how many letters each word has, and how many sounds you can hear.

6Practise again

Fill each gap with a tricky word from the word bank.
